National security firm First Response Group (FRG) has joined a trio of leading security industry trade bodies, including the global terrorism information network TiNYg, which aims to increase awareness of threats in global terrorism by bringing together subject matter experts from around the world in a trusted environment.

In tandem with the company’s move to join TiNYg as it elevates its links with national partners in security, FRG also takes its place on the City Security Council (CSC) and the City of London Crime Prevention Association (CoLCPA). The CSC was set up to foster a collaborative partnership between city-based security companies and the City of London Police. It has since been extended to include security companies beyond London, to ensure the best possible approach to responding to threats from terrorism, crises and emergencies. CoLCPA is a similar organisation, set up to serve communities with an invaluable security information communication network for crime prevention.

Barry Dawson, FRG’s group managing director was instrumental in FRG joining these organisations. He said: “We are delighted to become part of a wider network of security professionals, bridging the gap between threat actors, police and the communities we serve.

“As threat levels increase, it is vital we tap into the very latest thinking, experience and connections which, in turn, enables us to better support our clients in the industries they serve. Increasingly, security officers are being asked to support the police, and first responders more in their operations, and we have moved to ensure our own officers are trained and equipped to the highest levels to comply. Engaging with like-minded professionals and being able to share knowledge and best practice through organisations such as these, helps us to do just that.”

Founder and International Chairman of TiNYg, David Evans, commented: “We are delighted to welcome the FRG team as a premium partner of our organisation. I have known Barry Dawson for 20 years and know how he and his team at FRG will be committed to moving our relationship forward for the benefit of national and indeed international security. It’s a great addition to our organisation and to our wider network, which includes some the leading movers in global security operations, representing police, government and the independent security industry.”

Barry Dawson was appointed group managing director of FRG in April 2024, bringing with him 35 years of experience at the highest levels of the UK security industry.

FRG, headquartered in Leeds, employs a workforce of some 2,000 professionals and in the past year has won awards at the industry’s Security & Fire Excellence Awards, Outstanding Security Performance Awards (OSPAs), Security and Safety Entrepreneurial Awards and the ACS Pacesetter’s Security Officer of Distinction Awards. The company has recently been shortlisted for two Lloyds Bank British Business Excellence Awards.
